How to play Here to Slay
A quick overview for new players. 2–6 players, ages 10+, 30–60 minutes a game. The full rulebook comes in the box.
The goal
Be the first player to do either of these:
- Slay three monsters, or
- Have a full party: heroes from six different classes.
Setting up
Everyone picks a Party Leader, which gives you a class and a special ability. Three monster cards are placed face up in the middle of the table, and each player draws a starting hand from the main deck.
Your turn
You get three action points each turn to spend however you like:
- Draw a card (1 point)
- Play a hero, item or magic card from your hand (1 point)
- Roll to use one of your heroes' abilities (1 point)
- Attack a monster (2 points)
- Discard your hand and draw five new cards (3 points)
Where the chaos comes in
When someone plays a card, any other player can respond with a challenge card. Both players roll, and if the challenger wins, the card is cancelled. Modifier cards add to or subtract from any roll, yours or someone else's, so no attack or ability is ever safe.
Adding expansions
Every expansion mixes into the base game. Warriors & Druids and Berserkers & Necromancers add new hero classes, and Here to Sleigh adds a festive way to win with Gift cards.
